2:57am: Tonight, I found myself down yet again and this time the largest amount in a long time. After just 2 hours of play, I was down $750. The funny part was that I didn’t even lose any huge hands, it was just $100-$150 here and there like 3 or 4 times. I kept getting good hands out of position, and couldn’t get a hand to hold up in a multi way pot. I also didn’t pick up AA or KK a single time tonight.
Fortunately, I didn’t need it because I went on a really sick run of cards for about an hour and a half. A couple of the notable hands:
- I had 10s 10d in the big blind, and 8 people limped. At this point, everyone was calling if someone raised, and I’d be out of position for the remainder of the hand, so I pretty much reduced my hand down to a set mine. The flop: 10h 10c 8h. I checked, and the guy next to me bets $50. 2 callers join the fun, and eventually I call. The turn is Js. Once again, I check and the guy next to me bets $100. This time he gets one caller (not including me). I call and the river is the Qh. I check in case the third guy made a flush. The aggressor bets $100 again on the river, and the third guy folds. I put the bettor all in for his remaining $170, and he calls. He shows 7 9 off and then shakes his head and mucks.
- 10c 5c in the big blind. Everyone limps. 6 People see a flop of 10s 5d 3c. I lead out for $35. The guy on the button calls me. Turn is a 2s. This time I bet $75, and the button once again calls. The river was an 8d. I once again bet $75 and this time the button makes it $200. I think about it for a few seconds, and then decide to just call in case he had 4 6. He flips over a lower two pair, and I drag the pot.
- AcKs under the gun. I raise to $30 preflop. I get called by two people. The flop comes AsKd8h. I lead out for $50 hard (hoping someone would interpret it as weakness), hoping to get raised. One caller. The turn is 5d. I look over and see the guy only has $150 left. I put the guy on AJ, AQ or A10, so I figured he wasn’t going to fold if I put him all in. That’s indeed what I decide to do, and the man calls and flips over an Ace to discover he’s drawing dead going into the river.
If only I never went down $750, then I would have had a +$1,600 night, but I’ll take +$850 any day of the week. On to some heads up matches.
More later..
*EDIT*, 5:07am: Played one heads up match. Nearly fell asleep during the match. It lasted way too long (45 mins), but in the end I came out victorious (1-0).
