1:01pm: Well, after winning 10 of of my last 11 and finally breaking out of the slump last week, short term variance has once again caught up to me. Bad luck is the only way I can justify the nastiness today. One one hand I had 77 against an aggressive player with whom I have played with in the past. I re-raised him pre flop to 300 from 90. Flop came low, I believe 2 2 6, and I put him all in the flop only to have him flip over 88. That could have happened to anyone, and any fool could have been on the other end of that, it was just bad luck I was on the short end of the stick. On another hand, I had the nut flush and the guy had a full house. Another one I recall, the blinds were high and I had AcJc, on a low board with two clubs, and I shoved only to be called with AA and his hand held up.

So there you have it, so far this month has not been kind to me. My stats, even though in the +, are still sub-standard for me:

March 2008:

Games Played, Avg. Profit, Avg. Stake, ROI, Total Profit
163 $7 $50 13% $1,090

I’m going to take 20, and then refocus and try again. Hopefully all is not lost today. However, on days like this you still have to think long term. Sometimes it’s easier to do than other times, but it’s still an essential part of doing this for a living.

*EDIT* 3:24pm: Things have gotten a little bit better, as I’m now 5-7. Hands are not holding up as they should today, however.
