8-4 So Far Today; Things “Evening Out”

2:36pm: There’s one nagging problem that has followed me throughout this week. Every time I have two pair as a hand strength, someone has a higher two pair. What’s more is it seems that every time I have had top two on the board with top kicker (for example Ac9c, Board: 7 7 9) my opponent has had trips more than half the time. Funny how things work out short term. However, none of that matters, as my long term results are STARTING to curve back upward. Started out the day 0-2, and have since rallied to go 8-2 since then. Keep in mind that I’m still on no sleep. I’m probably going to take a break and play some COD4 for the rest of the afternoon, and then refocus for start of my night session. Seeing as I didn’t sleep last night, I’ll probably play from 6pm-10pm, and then call it a night.

I want to thank everyone who has recently starting checking out this blog. I WELCOME ANYONE AND EVERYONE. I already have 50-60 regular visitors, and I guess through word of mouth I’m starting to see even more. Things are going to get a LOT better around here as I figure this software out, and make changes. LOTS AND LOTS of poker strategy and resources will be available to all of you, as I’m putting together something that many of you will find very helpful.

Also, I know a lot of you just browse the site - and that’s fine. But I would really appreciate it if everyone who visits with any sort of regularity actually register for the site. Literally, it takes 20 seconds. That would be a GREAT help, thanks guys!

Well, I Pulled an All Nighter

12:02pm: It has been a while since I have done this, but I had to put in the extra hours in order to make sure I bring in more than I spend this month. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but it really is a good idea to make sure you have at least 5-6 months bills already put aside as a buffer just in case things don’t work out with poker. With that being said, at the end of the month when I do my income sheet, I always try to make sure I’m bringing in more money than I’m spending. That’s hard to do. Actually, it’s hard enough to just win more than you’re losing in POKER, much less POKER + LIFE. Fortunately, I have been able to do so up to this point. However, this month is going to be hard because of all the bills I’m faced with tomorrow.

Anyways, last night went about as mediocre as I could have hoped for. It seemed like an endless string of W, L, W, L, W, L, W, L, W, L all night long. I was 3-4 at the point where I took that second bad beat, and pretty much hovered around .500 all night long. FINALLY, as of 30 minutes ago, did I break the streak and win two games in a row. Including those games, I’m going to call it a session, ending with a 14-12 record on the night. That’s no where close to the 61% win rate I’m used to, but if this is a “bad” night, I guess I can live with that. Ironically, I’m not even close to tired so I suppose I’ll put in another day session as well.

During one of my breaks last night I had to honestly assess myself to see if I felt the problem was the cards, or the play. And trust me, I’m extra hard on myself all the time - if it was me, I’d be the first to tell you. However, last night was 85% a function of the cards and 15% a function of my play. If we reverse the outcomes of JUST the two hands I mentioned, I’m + $200 instead of even. Not to mention I got rivered 2-3 more times throughout the night, but I won’t go into those because I hate crying over spilled milk.

Good luck to everyone who is playing during the day today. I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going, and if I can finally get out of this rut I’m in.
